TECNALIA is the largest centre of applied research and technological development in Spain, a benchmark in Europe and a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance. It collaborates with companies and institutions to improve their competitiveness, people’s quality of life and achieve sustainable growth, thanks to a team of more than 1,500 people committed to building a better world through technological research and innovation. That is why TECNALIA’s research has a real impact on society and generates benefits in the form of quality of life and progress.
Its main scopes of action are: smart manufacturing, digital transformation, energy transition, sustainable mobility, health and food, urban ecosystem and circular economy.
In the latest awareness and positioning study carried out by the European Research Survey ERS in 2022, TECNALIA occupies the first position in R+D+i brand awareness.
Why AI-MATTERS?
TECNALIA is a flagship in smart manufacturing. It brings an industrial sense to the digital innovations integrated into new systems, materials, and technologies. AI-MATTERS gives an opportunity to explore, test and experiment with the companies from our ecosystem and to work with similar organisations in the EU exchanging learnings.
Highlighted Services
- Advanced manipulation with robots: Advanced handling with robots in different environments, both in the air and on the ground. Depending on the precision, speed and robustness required in the application (palletising, Bin Picking, kitting, transfer of goods, etc.), different equipment is available for testing and studying the viability of the technology.
- Internal logistics with mobile robots: In internal logistics applications, the incorporation of autonomous robotic systems based on mobile platforms for the transport of different loads. Depending on the required positional accuracy, these systems integrate different navigation technologies e.g.: Autonomous mobile robot/AGV customisation; Autonomous navigation based on Slam 2D or on Slam 3D.
- Flexibility for robotic applications: The need to increasingly customise products requires more flexible production, capable of adapting to a changing demand and environment. We work on technologies that allow us to develop flexible robotics: mechatronics for pilot stations, advanced control architectures, manipulators, simple programming, perception systems, self-adjusting trajectory planning or mobile robotics.
